FAQ's for the Christmas Fayre

Saturday 1st December & Sunday 2nd December 11am – 4pm

If you enter on foot, we ask for donations to the Gwrych Preservation Trust.

There will be volunteers with buckets for you to make a donation.

Yes it does, but excludes the gardens.

You can park in town and walk up or you can make use of the PARK & RIDE from Pensarn Promenade. FREE PARKING and the bus is £2 per adult, £1 per child for the return journey. Please keep your return ticket or you may be asked to pay again

Drop off and collection for the Park & Ride at the castle is at the bottom car park so again, you would need to be able to walk 300m on an incline, and back down again to catch the bus. Bus stop for the Promenade is near the toilets. There will be a steward present.

First pick up will be at 11am and LAST collection from Pensarn to Gwrych will be 3.15. The buses will then concentrate on collecting everyone from the castle to return to their cars. The buses will stop at 4.30pm.

There is only BLUE BADGE Parking on site. If you have mobility issues, and are unable to walk 300m on an incline then we are sorry to say that you won’t be able to visit the Fayre which is on the top courtyard. This is a listed building and sadly we can only work with what we have. We are asking for a fee of £5 per car to park.

The lane into the castle is bumpy in places, but fine. The lane from the car park to the courtyard is new and smooth. The courtyard is flat, and laid well for a castle but there may be some small areas of rough patches. (This is where all the stalls will be) The hill up to the inner castle (Stable Hill) is more bumpy. Some buggies will be fine, wheelchair users may struggle. (This is where Santa’s Grotto is)

If you have booked Santa Grotto tickets whilst the Fayre is on, please show your Eventbrite email to the steward on the gate. You will be able to park near the blue badge holders, but again would need to be able to walk the 300m to the courtyard.

If you have very young children we suggest you book another day in December to see Santa, as you will be able to park on the courtyard when the Fayre is not on.

Yes you do, so we can ensure that no child is disappointed and there is enough time for all. Tickets can be purchased at

Well behaved Dogs on leads are always allowed at the castle but be mindful this will be a busy event and restricted room within the marquees. There are even some stalls for pets!

Please wear sensible non-slip footwear & warm clothing. Wellington Boots are acceptable.

Please take care of yourselves and your children when walking up the drive. Disabled Cars and the Park & Ride Bus will still need to use the drive to access the castle, and cars/bus will be coming and going through the event. Children must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult.

Yes we have porter-loos on the courtyard, one of which is disabled, and we have another porter-loo on the exit out of the car park.

Torches or a form of light would be good if you are visiting later in the day. We close at 4pm so the walk from the event to the car might be a little dark.
