Gwrych Castle is a Grade I listed country house in the town of Abergele in North Wales. The frontage is 1500ft in length, there are 18 battlemented towers inspired by the great medieval castles of Wales. Gwrych Castle is one of the most important buildings of it’s type in Europe and has a history going back over several hundred years. Gwrych Castle and grounds is now open daily for visitors to explore and enjoy the 250 acres of historic gardens and parkland.

The castle trust purchased the building in June 2018 and is embarking on a restoration programme of the ruined main house. Please keep checking the website and social media channels for future events and news.

Public Transport: Nearest train station is Abergele and Pensarn. Nearest bus stop is on Llanddulas Road opposite Eldon Drive. The bus services that regularly visit are No’s 12, 13 and 21. This bus stop is immediately outside the main entrance to the castle.

Satellite Navigation: Please be aware that if using ‘sat nav’ you will arrive near but not at Gwrych Castle. Open Day instructions for visiting can be found below. Please ensure that you read the local directions provided:

Travelling from the East (From Chester)
Stay on the A55 to junction 24 sign posted Abergele • Follow the A547 through Abergele • Proceed straight through 2 sets of traffic lights • At the Tescos roundabout take the 1st exit, straight on • Continue to follow the A547 for approximately 300 metres • Turn left up Tan y Gopa Road and immediately turn right onto the drive to Gwrych Castle • Pass under a very large stone arch with two large round towers and drive up the drive to enter the Gwrych Castle Estate • Manorafon Farm is approximately 300 metres on the left and open day parking is to be found in the field opposite • Please follow the signs to be ushered into the car park • There is then a short walk of approximately 10 minutes to the castle along the drive • For some special events parking will be available at the Castle, for these events please follow the drive all the way to the castle and follow signs / directions given.

Travelling from the West (From Holyhead)
Stay on the A55 to junction 23 sign posted Llanddulas and Abergele • Follow the A547 through Llanddulas heading for Abergele for approx 2 miles • At the Business Park roundabout take the 2nd exit, straight on • After reaching the 30mph speed limit turn right after 200 metres • Turn right up Tan y Gopa Road and immediately turn right onto the drive to Gwrych Castle • Pass under a very large stone arch with two large round towers and drive up the drive to enter the Gwrych Castle Estate • Manorafon Farm is approximately 300 metres on the left and open day parking is to be found in the field opposite • Please follow the signs to be ushered into the car park • There is then a short walk of approximately 10 minutes to the castle along the drive • For some special events parking will be available at the Castle, for these events please follow the drive all the way to the castle and follow signs / directions given
