Countess's Writing Room
Based on the Water Tower at Rhuddlan Castle, the Gardener’s Tower is built over two storeys and was restored in 2015, together with the Georgian log store.
The ‘Countess’s Writing Room’, originally a formal sitting room built for Lady Emily Hesketh to retire to from the conservatory, but was used principally by her granddaughter, the Countess of Dundonald, as a private retreat.
The conservatory built during the 1830s. This cast iron conservatory was demolished during the 1950s. The Trust aims to restore the space to be used as a café and shop as well as flexible community space for events.
This room is said to be haunted by the Countess herself… look out for Haunted Scouse upcoming Halloween special, filmed here at Gwrych Castle… here’s a sneak peek…
East Lawn
This area was a formal lawn which gave access to the castle’s private gardens. From here you can get a glimpse of the current restoration works on the Castle’s main building.
During I’m A Celebrity, this area was used for The Coin Challenges as well as providing an access to the Dining Room which was one of the main filming areas!
