Gwrych Castle is in Abergele on the North Wales coast, just a short drive from the A55.

By car

Travelling west along the A55: Leave at Junction 24 and follow the A547 through Abergele towards Llanddulas. The estate entrance is on your left as you leave the town.

Travelling east along the A55: Leave at Junction 23 and follow the A547 towards Abergele for approximately two miles. The estate entrance is on your right as you approach the town.

From the A547, turn into Tan y Gopa Road, then turn immediately right onto the estate drive. Pass through the large stone archway between the two round towers and follow the drive for approximately half a mile, continuing past Manorafon Farm and the golf club towards the castle.

Using sat nav

Sat nav may bring you close to the castle without directing you to the visitor entrance. Please follow the directions above for the entrance off Tan y Gopa Road and continue along the estate drive up to the castle.

Parking and access

An all-weather car park is available on at the castle. From the main car park, there is an approximately 300-metre uphill walk to the castle courtyard.

By bus

Arriva services 12 and 13, together with M&H Coaches’ service 21, serve Llanddulas Road near the main gates for Gwrych Castle.

• Travelling towards Llandudno: Alight at Castle Gates.

• Travelling towards Abergele: Alight at Eldon Drive.

The bus stops are beside the estate entrance. From the gates, follow the estate drive towards the castle, continuing past Manorafon Farm and the golf club. Please allow time for this additional walk and the uphill approach to the courtyard.

Our nearest railway station is Abergele & Pensarn, approximately 1.9 miles from the castle.

Plan your rail journey in advance and allow time to complete your journey from the station. Arriva’s number 12 bus towards Llandudno serves a stop near the station and can take you to the estate entrance.

By bike

Gwrych Castle is a short detour from the North Wales coastal cycle path. Follow the directions to the estate entrance off Tan y Gopa Road, then continue along the drive towards the castle. Please be aware that the approach includes an incline.
